I wrote half a million words after my car was beaten to death working ride share. Now I want everyone to vicariously experience free love through my fantasy fiction.
These books don’t need to be your favorite to have made a difference in your life. For me, what I want is fans to whom I can say a line from a book and the image of the character enters their head and they smile, maybe bust out laughing. “Yeah, that was a good one,” they say and I know I’ve done my job well. Not flawlessly, not epically, just notable enough to change one more person’s viewpoint in a positive direction. It’s what twenty or so authors did for me and hold a place in my heart.
~ Loretta Savhol series.
In the early seventies, my parents purchased a printing business and I grew up eventually running and playing with all the ‘toys’ of the publishing craft. Even back then the small printing presses were having a tough time, so we branched into the more lucrative blueprinting aspects. It was an amazing tutelage as a book lover and as one of my books shows, I had a lovely childhood.
As this suggests, I am familiar with keylining, plate making and installing those plates on a single color offset printing machine. Perhaps one day I’ll figure out the appropriate book to showcase these memories. Certainly can’t wait to be the first to read that one. When old enough, at the time fourteen, I started working and one of my jobs was to make those plates.
Growing up in the printing industry, I was exposed to offset printing at a young age. Makes sense that I should eventually write my own books and have had that as a desire for some time. Last year, I was put in the position of having a lot of time and decided to drag out some of my book starts. This let to almost a million words later, four full, ready for professional editing manuscripts and a hunger to continue writing. Loretta is the first book in a saga crossing eleven books that I am eager to put work into with the editing team that is a good fit.
As for everyday life, I write with at least two cats snuggled up to me and spend the rest of my time learning more about this craft or taking time off to play Minecraft. I have a daughter who is also an aspiring novelist and we regularly share our stories.
